Amazing Results of a Co-operative Project
DeAnn Singh, guest speaker
DeAnn presented the work of her advanced, year-long class—an ambitious collaborative project. Each of the six students (including DeAnn) proposed four themes, and they created 24 original works of art per person. Her presentation was warmly received by our membership. We also enjoyed looking at DeAnn’s new book.
Other events this evening were presentations by members of the Board and volunteers such as Librarian Cyndy, who brought a fine selection of materials available for checkout, and Historian Elizabeth, who passed around the beautiful album she created commemorating SDFC’s 2008-2009 year.
Yvonne stressed the importance of meeting deadlines when signing up for workshops. For example, the deadline to sign up for the November Georgia Angelopolous workshop, Italic with Zest & Grace, is October 6th. Contact Yvonne for more information.
When we arrived at the meeting, we were handed blank pieces of cardstock cut to fit our lanyard name cards. We were told to decorate our names and bring them to the October meeting where a “surprise” would await us. Send questions (such as what size to use) to Kathy, Membership chairperson. Even if you weren’t present in September, bring your creation next month.
Receiving the 2009-2010 Membership Roster was another highlight of the evening. Kathy Gilchrist has outdone her self in choice of this year’s cover. If you didn’t receive your directory at the meeting, you should be getting it shortly by mail. Please let Kathy know if you see changes or corrections that need to be made.
