Valentine Cards
Presented by SDFC Members Jeanen Monteleone, Janice Shigehara, Wendy Telford, and Kati Searcy

There was a short business meeting first:

  • Art at the Pt. Loma Library can be picked up at the library at noon on Thursday, March 1. If you need more information or need to make other arrangements, please contact Wendy Telford.
  • SDFC’s plans for next year include monthly meetings, monthly topics, and we hope, monthly volunteers to lead or spearhead the activities. RSVPs will determine whether or not the room will be available. Contact any board member for more information and to volunteer to help.
  • Plans are being made for our 40th Anniversary celebration in June. Contact Ellen to help!!

And then...what a fun time we had with our fellow calligraphers, learning new methods of using supplies in creative ways. The presenters were well prepared with clear demonstrations and packets of materials for all of us. This meeting could have gone on a lot longer!! There were so many great ideas!

Kati started our valentine adventure with her Places in the Heart Card. After cutting a stencil and taping across with post-it correction tape, we tapped in stamp pad ink, let the color dry, and wrote on the white lines that remained.

And then Wendy Telford and Janice Shigehara wowed us (and challenged us) with a plethora of very cool ways to use envelopes as cards, gift card holders, etc. We even use CD envelopes! And giant paper corrugaters!
